Newcastle Racecourse is located within the 812 acre estate of High Gosforth Park, and is only 5 miles from Newcastle City Centre. The racecourse has been present at High Gosforth Park since 1882 and is owned by Arena Racing Company. With over 60 race meetings a year, Newcastle Racecourse is one of the busiest racecourses in the UK and is a Grade 1 dual code track. Highlights of the racing calendar include the Eider Chase in February, the historic Northumberland Plate Festival and the fabulous Ladies Day. As well as hosting first class racing, the racecourse is an established conference and events venue. It also shares High Gosforth Park with Parklands Golf Club and the Border Minstrel Pub. Recently the racecourse has had over £11million worth of investment, improving facilities and building an all-weather Tapeta track. This new track currently stands as the only floodlit all-weather straight mile in the world.
